Adjusting your connection plates.

If you have a known working battery or heating element that will not work, the center plate in the threaded connection may be out of place and causing the devices to not complete the circuit.

This can happen from over-tightening the devices, after charging a battery on a screw on USB charger or switching from one device to another.

The center plates are not set in a fixed position, they "float" in a silicone gasket. Allowing for movement and variances from one device to another.

Over time these plates can get moved out of place and cause the 2 devices to not connect or make poor connection. Carefully read all the steps below about adjusting the plates before doing so, and make sure to follow the steps properly. Failure to do so can cause damage to the devices or even yourself.

Adjusting your Heating Elements plate:

It is best to always try adjusting your heating elements plates first before you attempt to adjust the battery's plate, see below.

Always check the ohms of your heating element first before attempting this to make sure the coil is not broken. You can do this with a multimeter.

You will need a tool to do these adjustments. We recommend a dental pick or small flat blade screwdriver (like the ones for eyeglass repair).

To Adjust the plate:

  • Start by removing the heating element from the battery.
  • Clean and dry the threads of the heating element.
  • Notice there is a small gap between the threads and the center plate. Do not place anything down the center hole, you could damage the coils up inside the heating element.
  • Carefully place your tool in the gap between the threads and the plate. You only need to insert the tool a little bit.
  • Carefully using the tool pull or pry the center plate up just a little. Move around the connection and do it a couple more time. You are only looking to lift the plate very slightly. If you raise it too high you can pull the center plate out and damage the heating element.
  • Once you have worked your way around the plate and moved it up a little. Check and make sure the plate is sitting centered in the connection. If not plush it over till it is centered. (you NEVER want the plate to be touching the threads, this will created a dead short and could kill the heating element and the battery).
  • Screw the heating element back on to your battery and see if it works now. If not, try adjusting the plate again. It may take a couple times doing this before you find the correct spot. If you pull it up too high but it is still in the connection you can push it back in a little, the batteries plate will push it back in the rest of the way.

Your heating element should now be ready to vaped with again.

Adjusting your Batteries Plate:

Adjusting the plate in your batteries connection is much more risky and you should always adjust the heating elements plate first. Volcano does not recommend doing this fix on ANY manual battery that you can not turn off. This is due to if the battery is fired while doing the adjustment you can damage the battery and/or yourself.

You will need a tool to do these adjustments. We recommend a dental pick or small flat blade screwdriver (like the ones for eyeglass repair).

To adjust the plate:

  • Start by removing the heating element from the battery.
  • If using the Lavatube turn off the device and remove the battery. If using the Inferno turn the battery off by clicking the button 5 times fast.
  • Clean and dry the threads of the battery.
  • Notice there is a small gap between the threads and the center plate. If using a automatic battery do not place anything down the center hole, you could damage the wires and circuitry in the battery.
  • Carefully place your tool in the gap between the threads and the plate. You only need to insert the tool a little bit. If using a pick or other hooked tool, you can slip the hook under the plate a little. The screwdriver end will just barely go over the lip of the plate.
  • Carefully using the tool pull or pry the center plate up just a little. Move around the connection and do it a couple more time. You are only looking to lift the plate very slightly. If you raise it too high you can pull the center plate out and damage the battery.
  • Once you have worked your way around the plate and moved it up a little. Check and make sure the plate is sitting centered in the connection. If not plush it over till it is centered. (you NEVER want the plate to be touching the threads, this will created a dead short and could kill the heating element and the battery).
  • If using the Lavatube, place the battery back in the device and turn it on. If using the Inferno, turn the battery back on by pressing the button 5 times fast.
  • Re-attach your heating element and see if it works now. If not you may need to adjust the plate again. It may take a few times to get the plate in the correct place.

Your battery should now be ready to continue vaping.

Things not to do:

  • DO NOT ever attempt this with a battery in the ON position.
  • DO NOT do this with a manual Magma battery, as it  can not be turned off, just adjust the heating element's plate.
  • DO NOT ever pull the plate all the way out.

Volcano is not responsible for any damage to the battery, heating element or yourself while attempting these fixes. Attempt at your own risk.
